About Us

Founded in 2005, Philly Tutors is a community based tutoring company that seeks to provide high-quality tutoring in every Philadelphia zip code.

OUR MISSION

At Philly Tutors we seek to dispel notions about private tutoring as something that is only for the super-rich. We don't believe in forcing you into buying "packages" of sessions with expensive initial payments. We also don't charge you extra fees for evaluations and other pre-exams. We believe you should have the best tutor without breaking the bank.

Billy Eisenberg
Founder and CEO

  • Meet Billy, the founder of Philly Tutors and a dedicated educator with a passion for helping students in his community. Billy's journey in education began with the Teach Philadelphia program, where he taught grades 6th-11th at several schools in the Philadelphia area, including Barratt Middle School, Freire Charter School, Mathematics Civics and Sciences Charter School, and Gesu Catholic School. He also served as the Director of Education and Teen Services at North Light Community Center in the Manayunk neighborhood of Northwest Philadelphia.

With a commitment to making learning engaging and hands-on, Billy continues to tutor K-12 students and is known for his creative approach to teaching. He earned his undergraduate degree in American Studies at Lafayette College and his Secondary Education Certification at the University of Pennsylvania Graduate School of Education.

Billy's passion for education extends beyond his work at Philly Tutors. He serves as the Secretary for the Advisory Council for the Athletic Recreation Center in Brewerytown and enjoys coaching his children's sports teams. He is a proud husband and father of two children and a few cats.

With his extensive experience in education and community service, Billy is a valuable partner for parents and non-profit organizations looking to improve the educational outcomes of students in the Philadelphia area. We are proud to have him as the founder and driving force behind Philly Tutors' mission to provide high-quality, affordable tutoring services to students in need.
