Staying Academically Fresh Over The Summer

Summer is a time for fun and adventure, and as a family, you're probably looking forward to a busy and exciting season. However, we often receive the question, "How can we keep our kids academically engaged without adding more classes or schoolwork to their summer schedule?" One idea we love is to start a family book club: choose a book that everyone in the family can read, and have regular discussions about it. This could take place over dinner or in the car, it’s easy to do and pretty cheap too! Another idea we love at Philly Tutors is LearnFresh’s NBA Math Hoops game. This board game involves sports, percentages, addition and subtraction and is competitive to boot! Students who played NBA Math Hoops regularly achieved 35% gains in math fluency.
