Dawud Abdus-Saboor, A.S.A.

Dawud holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics and has spent several years in a secondary career as a high school mathematics instructor and private tutor. He is an Associate of the U.S. based Society of Actuaries and has been a member of the American Academy of Actuaries, with nearly thirty years of professional actuarial experience in the field of pensions, life insurance, health insurance, and family Takaful (Islamic life insurance).  He strongly believes that each student can succeed and that his job as a “Math Coach” is to assist each student to develop a tutoring plan that fits the student’s individual academic needs, which clarifies learning challenges, improves study skills, introduces test-taking strategies/”short-cuts”, and aligns overall goals to gain the requisite self-confidence crucial for success.

Elizabeth Johnston

Subjects: Reading, Writing, Math
Grades: K – 6

Elizabeth is a certified Elementary Education Teacher for grades K – 6. She has in-depth experience in a variety of teaching environments, and expertise in interacting with children in different subject matters, ensuring a positive teaching experience. She has developed enriching one-on-one student relationships and has created lesson plans based on the students’ needs. She is best at encouraging students to read and promoting an interest in books. It is her goal to build up their confidence in the subject matter by giving them the tools that they need to succeed in the classroom and beyond.

Marcus Gerald

Marcus graduated from Seton Hall University with my Bachelors in Science majoring in Biology. He became a graduate assistant in the EOP department at Seton Hall University where he served as the primary Biology and Chemistry tutor as well as the Pre-Algebra tutor for all students in the program. He held this position for two years as he worked on his Masters in Biology. Upon graduation he taught an Algebra class for incoming freshmen. He is currently in a PhD program at Drexel University working on his doctorate in Biology where he also teaches undergraduate lab courses. He believes in providing students with the tools they need to be self-sufficient and helping them figure out which methods are best for them to succeed as every student is different.

Danielle J. White

Grades: Elementary/Middle School

As a longtime youth advocate, Danielle has devoted herself in numerous work and volunteer experiences, which has allowed her to work with youth in North Jersey, Philadelphia and abroad. She is dedicated to fulfilling the commitment to empower our youth to learn by providing a fun creative space in order for her to support each of their needs through mentoring and academic coaching.

Education is the key to success and she truly enjoys improving the skills of her students by building their confidence as well as their academic success.

Jesse Brenner

Grades: Elementary – College

Jesse has tutored a variety of subjects Elementary through College students as well as SAT prep and GRE prep. He has a B.A. from Wesleyan University in Philosophy, with concentrations in government/political science, history, and religion. He recently received his M.A. from Temple University in the Department of Religion where he studied history, anthropology, sociology, and other fields, while honing his research and writing.

He has taught English in foreign countries (Israel and Botswana). He also have developed and implemented curriculum for an educational summer camp (grades 7-12) where he also served as senior supervisor of leadership development and activities.

He custom tailors his tutoring methods for each individual student after an initial assessment and work with the student to develop goals for the sessions and their school year.  In test prep as well as subject tutoring, he helps students develop a wide range of related skills and methods that will help their overall education.

Grades: 3rd – 12th grade

Rudolph received his B.A. in Education from Temple University and is a PA certified teacher in English and History. He is a Reading and Writing coach at TIA Middle School. He has been a mental health counselor for Children’s Services for 5 years. He’s currently attending Temple University Law School. “Coach Rudy” also coaches high school basketball.

 

 

 

 

Steven Vaughn-Lewis

Addl Tutor_SteveSteven Vaughn-Lewis is an SAT and ACT tutor with Kaplan Test Prep, holding Pennsylvania Instructional I certifications in Chemistry, Biology, and Secondary Math. After graduating from the University of Pennsylvania in 2012, he joined Teach for America and taught at Delaware Valley Charter High School, while concurrently earning a Master’s Degree in Education from Penn. Steven loves learning about and interacting with different cultures and travels to Tanzania each year in order to teach and volunteer.
